The keypad does not create any gap from the surface safe to the base pad. This pad can also be used to replace bad pads without changing out the lock. Unfortunately, this pad does not record who has opened the safe. It is recommended that people look at the SecuRam L62 model if they want a commercial-grade lock with that feature. Overall, the ESL20 Electronic Keypad & Lock seems to be a solid product. In terms of its key features, it is easy to set up and use. However, there is no record of who has opened the safe with it.
