Overall reception of the official Raspberry Pi 7" touch display seems to be mixed. Some users did not have any issues and found it to be a good purchase, while others encountered problems with the product or were not satisfied with the documentation. One user liked using it for Klipper/3d printing, while another used it for music streaming. It is not clear whether or not the display is LED. There are posts in the package to mount the Pi, and some cases come with hardware to do so. The display itself does not use the GPIO pins, but the case comes with a cooling fan that uses a ground pin and a voltage pin. The display is powered through the display connector and does not require separate power.
