Slava Kurilov, being a professional oceanographer, was eager to see the entire world, but the Soviet Union, separated from other countries by the Iron curtain, did not let him out beyond the borders. Slava Kurilov did not want to submit. In December 1974 he managed to escape from the tourist liner not far from the Philippines.Without food and drink, without proper sea tackle, equipped only with a snorkel and flippers, he swam about 100 kilometers to the Philippine coast, having spent almost 3 days in the ocean.This book, written by Slava Kurilov with documentary precision of an explorer and talent of an excellent writer, tells us about extreme physical and spiritual conditions, about the ways of finding external and internal freedom.
