- The Countess Dubarry is a historical novel written by the renowned French author Alexandre Dumas. As Jeanne's power and influence grow, she becomes embroiled in political intrigue and scandal. She is accused of corruption and treason, and her enemies plot to bring her down. But Jeanne is a survivor, and she uses all her wit and charm to outmaneuver her enemies and maintain her position at court. The Countess Dubarry is a gripping tale of love, power, and betrayal set against the backdrop of the decadent and corrupt French court. Dumas brings the period to life with his vivid descriptions of the people, places, and events of the time.
