Kalypso Games 248 Editorial Review
** Airline Tycoon 2 - PC** Airline Tycoon 2 casts its net wide, appealing to fans of tycoon simulation games, but the reception has been mixed. Many players who enjoyed the earlier title, Airline Tycoon Evolution, had high hopes based on nostalgia and expectation but are left feeling somewhat disappointed. While the game boasts updated airports, improved English voice-overs, and attractive 3D graphics, it also lacks some beloved features that made its predecessor enjoyable. The customization aspects of the planes and the inclusion of a sandbox mode offer some positive engagement. However, critics have noted the absence of key gameplay elements such as stock and fuel markets, and cargo routes, which detracted from the overall experience of building and managing a successful airline. Loading times have been cited as another frustration, with many players reporting that they can disrupt the flow of the game, despite claims that the game has simplified mechanics. User interface problems plague the experience as well, with some players reporting choppy graphics and tedious character controls that hinder immersion. Moreover, the environment has been described as dull and lacking the vibrancy expected in a simulation game focused on airport management. While some players recognize the game as a harmless escape for those more interested in flight management, others criticize its lack of depth and realism, equating it to a child’s game that lacks the engagement found in contemporary open-world titles. With the core of the audience divided, it’s evident that while Airline Tycoon 2 has its moments, it falls short of being a worthy successor to its forbear. **
