  • pergunta: Can this coating be used on surfaces that are not steel?

    Resposta: No, it is specifically designed for steel surfaces and should not be used on pre-painted, galvanized, or sandblasted surfaces.
  • pergunta: How do I apply the coating?

    Resposta: Simply brush it onto a clean, cold steel surface, heat to cure, and buff for a smooth finish.
  • pergunta: What temperature can this coating withstand?

    Resposta: It can withstand temperatures up to 1200°F without blistering, peeling, or flaking.
  • pergunta: Can this be used to paint brass face trim on a wood fireplace?

    Resposta: No. Smooth metal surfaces cannot absorb this oily paint. It’s good for porous surfaces like iron. But not cooking iron.
  • pergunta: What is the curing process? can you paint in summer and delay the curing til winter? or provide the company phone number so I can call? thx

    Resposta: Not sure how long it will ultimately wait but I recently coated exhaust headers for a project and used the engine heat to cure. My time between coating and curing was about 3 months.
  • pergunta: Would this work on an antique cast iron wood burning potbelly stove?

    Resposta: Yes. It worked on our cast iron wood stove. Keep in mind it smells super strong. You will need major ventilation. You really don’t need a lot of it - but even then it still smells very strong. The cast iron absorbs it well and makes it look new.
  • pergunta: What is the high temp of this paint?

    Resposta: Don't really know the max, but I've used it on my Vermont Casting's stove, which I frequently get up to ~600 F. (actually the catalytic converter area gets up to >1200 F) and I see no problems. So it's pretty high....
  • pergunta: Does this product work well on the inside of an outdoor fireplace (fireplace brick/masonry)?

    Resposta: Not sure. It did not work well for updating an indoor fireplace cover because it is oily. It worked well on an old heavy iron wood stove. So on something porous, it seems to work very well. It needs to dry thoroughly. Has strong toxic fume smell so outdoor use is best.
  • pergunta: Can I use this on leather?

    Resposta: No. It is for use on metal only - iron & steel as indicated on the can.
  • pergunta: I have cast iron burner grates that don't look nice anymore and cannot find replacements. Can I use this paint on them.

    Resposta: It is a restorative paint for metal at a high temp, like grates, as long as there is no food involved (not safe in contact with food). Some outgassing until the paint is completely cured.
  • pergunta: Can I paint the inside of a dutch oven with this paint?

    Resposta: No, don't try that as the paint does cook off and will end up in your food. Dutch ovens should just be oiled and baked to season. Don't worry about how they look. Cast iron will last forever. I cook with Dutch ovens all the time and occasionally have to re-season them but never do anything other than that.
  • pergunta: Can this be used on firebrick? Thanks

    Resposta: I suspect not. I used it on metal, specifically iron & steel parts of a wood pellet stove. The label states that it's 'for use on stoves, stovepipe, barbeques, cast iron and steel.' There's no mention of other surfaces.
  • pergunta: After use, does this give off a strong odor several times after a fire is built, or does it burn off after one firing? TY.

    Resposta: I did not notice any odor.
