It can be used on 1/2 inch copper or galvanized pipes and can fit shower arms with a radius of 1/2 inch or less. Its flexible plastic material allows it to be spread apart without removing the valve. It is easy to install and can be painted over if desired. However, it is cheaply made and does not tolerate contact with bathroom cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide, which will turn the "chrome" plastic completely white requiring replacement. Overall, it is an affordable solution to replace metal covers that have developed rusting or pitting over time.
