Resposta: That “arm/lever” is supposed to be wobbly. Put it in the right place above the garlic clove and pull the two handles together. It’s very efficient indeed at forcing the garlic through the little holes. Well and truly crushed! -

I'm a little confused. is this an ikea item or not?
Resposta: I'm currently looking at the removable hopper (the bit where you put the garlic) from my old Konics garlic press which I bought from Ikea outlet. In comparison *this* product's hopper has fewer and larger holes. It's possible that Ikea have changed the design, but it's more likely that this product is a (decent-quality) replica. Neither press is well-made; the reason I bought this item is because with my real Ikea one the handles kept flooding with water when I washed it and then the dye-cast mechanism snapped. I'd advise you to spend £10 and get a decent all-steel garlic press. I wish more of them were designed so the hopper plates meet before the handles close together, like this model. In all other models I've used the handles are touching when in a fully compressed position, preventing further squishing and leaving unpressed garlic left in the hopper. I'm eleven years old. -

Can this be put in the dishwasher?
Resposta: I always put mine in the dishwasher, make sure you wash the inner part or at least rinse well so you remove all garlic left overs, the tiny bits of garlic trapped there as the dishwasher isn't able to do so. Apart from that this product is dishwasher safe. -

Does it work ok with just one clove of garlic? mine has arrived, i haven't opened it as it seems big if i was just needing one clove crushed.
Resposta: Yes works perfectly with one but you can put more in....it works really well and crushed superbly and v v easy to clean. -

Resposta: Yes, I find it very easy to clean. The mincer part of the crusher disengages very easily from the main body and if you wash the parts separately it cleans in seconds. -

My last Ikea one was dye cast metal which wore down & broke. Is this one actually stainless steel?
Resposta: Hello, this one is made of Stainless steel, Zinc with Brush finish nickel-plated. However do not put it in the dishwasher, only handwash it to avoid any erosion of the brush finish.
